Another IHEEM Event exhibition design completed for the team at MJ Quinn.
How did we get from A to B, the A being their existing marketing materials to B, this completed and constructed design?
Some time back, the team at MJ Quinn Energy had commissioned a piece of illustration to represent their commitment to green energy. With this being established and well-used, this would enable me to take a fresh direction but keep the stronger elements. So, using the 2D style of the illustrated buildings, I created a 3D approach by using the hexagon shape of their logo. The result was the basalt-column-inspired base shapes (think Giant's Causeway) and the introduction of figures and the ephemera of Autumn. This is a company working out and about, in rain or shine. But it's also a customer-focused enterprise, which I represented with the shared coffee moment of the figures.
Several design challenges were presented. The company Multi Source Power is now part of the group, and their branding had to work in tandem, and all these colors needed to sit happily together. That's why I introduced the 'power-beam' to represent the energy and a direct approach that runs through their services. The burgundy master hue of MJQ combined with the softer blues of energy-storage engineers MSP worked well to create a fresh and surprising palette.

I also sourced a 1/6th scale transit van to use as a prop on the stand and we commissioned a modeller to apply the decals.

A map takes you places
The decision to create a piece of print that is interactive (in a real-world sense) was intended to add a sense of drama to the interactions between the client and potential buyers. A map takes you places, and this map shows some of the scope that this company covers. As well as helping the team market their achievements through the numbers and statistics, I employed an illustration style and photography to complete the piece.
